Life..it hath changethed. [26 Dec 2008|10:42pm]
[ mood | contemplative ]

I can no longer remember what my life was like without the baby. It's like my conciousness took a nosedive on 12/14. Some things remain, but I guess any of you with children understand.
It is taking me some time to get used to the crushing removal of my privacy that starting a family brings. My parents have been to my house one time in the ten years we have lived here and that was right after we moved in. On that visit my dad informed me that I did not need the door that seperated the living room from the hallway leading back to the bedrooms. Sorry buddy, but I needed it then and still do. Now they have been here twice and my mother one more time. Aimee's mom, dad, two sisters and one nephew visited from Miami starting the day after we arrived from the hospital. They were a big help, but I felt strangely detached from the hustle and bustle surrounding the baby. I felt like I did not have adequate bonding time, but I cannot stress how much help they were to us. Both my brothers have been by several times and brought their kids. Were we so boring before that we did not warrant more visits from family? Did I want them to visit this much back then? Who knows? Anyway, it is not a bad feeling, just a little alien.I feel like a dick sorta.

Still on a high though. She's a beautiful little bundle o' joy.

Yo Yo Yo...I Be A Da Da [23 Dec 2008|02:47pm]
[ mood | jubilant ]

Aimee gave birth to a little baby girl on December 14th. Her name is Kendall Amelia Coleman. She was 7 punds and 9 oz. She's a cutie. We are taking time off from work to bond with our baby and change a whole lotta diapers. Fun stuff.

Sarah Palin has made me reverse my previous objections to clown porn. Can anybody tell me why this has happened?

Friends, wobats...archaic tidings [26 Sep 2008|10:21pm]
Been a while...a couple of years maybe. watching the debates. What a stalemate of epic distortions. I would like to elect Lonesome Dave Peverett's ghost for prez. I believe that Joe Bouchard is an adequate Vice Presidential candidate based on his vocal perfromance on BOC's "Hot Rails to Hell" alone. Fuck the rest. ARRRRRGHHHH!!!!!!

Dorf on Alcohol [04 Feb 2007|10:07pm]
[ mood | contemplative ]
[ music | Frank Zappa-One Size Fits All ]

I pretty much got torn up at the Lemonheads show last night. It was a trainwreck, but a lot of fun.
I have not been posting because my life has not been interesting...at all. I've just been struggling to keep it together
with school which I should finish by July or August. No real music stuff is happening. The Exploding Madonna imploded last April. It's the longest I've been without a band in 20 years and I like it, although I miss those guys. I started jamming with Pat Barousse and we got about 7 songs completed before that became impossible because of schedule conflicts. Hopefully we can restart that as it is pretty fun and the stuff has turned out halfway decent. I started playing drums in Icon Mine which is a band that is led by Larry and James formerly of Manta Ray. It's a good bunch of rock tunes so far.
It is beginning to look more and more that Aimee and I will be moving into another house. This has been a really difficult thing to deal with because we really love this place, but the repairs and upkeep have become daunting. I will be giving up the studio, so you know how much of a sacrifice this is going to be. Maybe Pat Puckett can build Casa de Canard II, but I doubt that's going to happen. I'm looking forward to a possible new start in my life and one that doesn't revolve 24 hours a day around playing rock and roll. Some would say I am throwing that away and I'm stupid, but why continue down that path if I do not find it rewarding? However, I'll probably change my mind once I'm done with school because I am an asshole. Blah blah blah...we've all got our problems don't we? Much respect.

[ music | The Who- Live at Leeds (deluxe edition) ]

I have not posted on here for almost 3 months. I have no idea why. i guess I haven't had anything exciting to report. The wifey-poo is graduating with her masters this weekend. yippeeee for her.
I, alas, am not. Got about another year or so left at JESUS COLLEGE before I finish up. Maybe I'm dead and in purgatory? Is that what administrative theory is all about? A month or so ago Jonathan Garrett was through our fair city and it was a pleasure to see him before he started on his (seventh?) sojourn. I rarely throw in a Moody blues reference, but there it is. We went to the Wilco show which was very "professional". I enjoyed it, but it was very "polished". Nels Cline is an awesome guitar player, balh blah blah, you know this... Then about two weeks or so ago Dino Jr. hit this town with way too many amps. It was loud and pretty rocking. I saw them last year in Atalanta and it was pretty great then too. They now should either retire or finish an album before they go back out or maybe play a few more things off of some later Dino albums and possibly some Sebadoh. Doubt it will happen. It would require J MAscis to listen to someone other than himself.
On another note I have been working on updating the www.canardmusic.com page about every week. Some golden oldies on that thing. Anyway, I am out.
New tunes:
Tapes n' Tapes- the loon
parts and labor-stay afraid
Built to Spill-You in reverse( very predictable and very solid)
Old Tunes:
The Who-Live at Leeds(deluxe edition)
Silver Jews- American Water

Rheingold promotes bravery.
I sit on the couch looking at nothing.
The tv rattles like an inconspicuous gerbil.
I'm nesting into space.
My mother loves British cars.
My daddy loves screw top vino.
I can't think beyond the shit I'm asked to.
My soul is clogged like a drainpipe.
Mr. Clean lives inside a compartment in the bathroom.
His gay culture iconography is like a test tube.
Fine little hairs bristle on his lip and the
scrubbing bubbles scrub....
Is this a fucking movie or is this a transmission from my own
feeble mind?
Can I check into a peanut butter relish pork rind?
Food action, sex action , clown activity stops.
I think I'd rather jerk off to the Four Tops.

IPOD replaces the IZOD [13 Jan 2006|08:17pm]
[ mood | cheerful ]
[ music | early man ]

My job made my head spin more than Linda Blair's this week. it sucked mightily. Oh well no time for bitchin'. My wife got me an IPOD for Christmas this year. Uhhh, there's nothing quite like the shuffle feature ....jumping from a little " New Day Rising" to " Scrapple from the Apple" to dare I say it "Golden Country" off of REO SPeedwagon's double live opus "you get what you play for" from 1977. As I have very well theorized, 1977 WAS the year of the live album. Your jeers about Oreo Chuckwagon are welcome. What can i say? I'm young again. Yay IPOD!!!!!

El Canardo [03 Jan 2006|09:12pm]
[ music | Jerry Butler ]

After much cajoling from my friend Kelly I have decided to open a download site for music I have been involved with over the years.
It's going to feature stuff from all the bands I've been in and will include unreleased weird shit as well as some stuff off of cds. Currently there are a few things up right now. I hope to upload something every week. So hopefully someone will enjoy it. Oh and wait until you hear ' The Humbuckers' which is me and my brother playing Ramones and Kiss covers from 1984. It's terrible. It should be up soon.

[22 Aug 2005|02:29pm]
Bob Moog...he of the Moog...is dead. His inventions truly changed the sound of modern music. I say give it up for the micromoog, the rogue, the memory, the source and the mini along with lot's of other great inventions. I believe he took Leonard Theremin's invention to new levels. It's a sad day . Somewhere Rick Wakeman is sobbing. I remember working at the store and my friend Jerry would get phone calls from Bob. Jerry was a huge fan of the Moog synth and any gear he could find that Bob made he would buy. Moog synths became extremely out of fashion in the 80's. I wonder how many Yamaha DX-7 playing jerk offs pawned their Moog keyboards in that decade. I traded a shitty little Peavey practice amp for a micromoog at Scott Tennyson's on Monroe street(about a 50.00 amp). I probably could have resold that keyboard a few years ago for about 400-500 bucks. Very few keyboards can give that kind of hot fat analog ass. RIP Dr. Moog!

I Made Tim Allen into My Bitch [28 Jul 2005|01:33pm]
The last few weeks I have been the handyman and I don't mean the James Taylor type(although that could be better!). Anyway...lat night Aimee and I satyed up working on our house until 3 in the morning. I repainted the bathroom, wired in two new light fixtures, patched some concrete block in the basement and cleaned out the studio. This is the most boring post ever. I'm really putting it in as a reminder to myself of how stupid that was. It was hot and humid! I just will never get used to it even though I've lived her most of my life.

I Turned into A Mason [25 Jul 2005|12:26am]
I spent the better part of this weekend doing shit around the house. I patched concrete and brick and sanded drywall . Aimee and I cleaned out our disgusting basement. We've got mold and mildew down there people! It's making me sick. Anyway its so goddamned humid here and our house is so freaking old it is just growing things. We're trying to get this place all spruced up. I really like this house but I wish I had started working on it...7 years ago when we moved in. I have a feeling I'll be sticking some money into it. We have no plans on ever moving again, but in some ways it would seem easier to move than do what we want to do. Painters come by tomorrow. Hopefully this Sahara dust storm won't fuck with it too much. What were the odds on that?
